Dr Tinatin Khizanshvili

Dr. O'Connell earned her undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and Psychology.  She obtained her medical degree at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and then moved on from Virginia to Boston, MA for her internal medicine internship and residency at Boston University Medical Center. Dr. O'Connell subsequently completed her training in gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Just after finishing her fellowship at Vanderbilt, she moved back home to Virginia and joined Gastroenterology Associates, P.C. in 2012.  She is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine.  Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer screening, hemorrhoid banding, and women’s issues in gastroenterology.  She enjoys travel, photography, and staying physically active.
